KUCHING, Sept 29: The Sarawak government and Federal Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) held a meeting today to strengthen and improve coordination on rural development projects including road infrastructure as well as electricity and water supply.

Minister Dato Seri Mahdzir Khalid paid a courtesy call on Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office here today to discuss matters related to development projects being carried out throughout the State.

“Among the matters discussed include coordination between the Sarawak government and the Ministry.

“The Premier also agreed that technical parties from the Ministry and Sarawak should hold regular meetings, especially regarding roads as well as electricity and water supply in rural areas.

“Through the coordination, we can identify the projects under the State government and the Ministry,” he said in a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.

Mahdzir emphasised that coordination is crucial to prevent budget overlaps between the State government and ministry.

“The meeting went really well as we will further enhance our cooperation and ensure that projects that have been approved can be implemented in the best possible way,” he added.
