Sarawak govt engaging HR consulting firm to improve civil service’s incentives, career advancement

KUCHING, Nov 29: The Sarawak government has appointed a human resource consulting firm to study the Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) Scheme in terms of incentives, career advancement, facilities, rewards and welfare.

Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the result of the study would later be used as guidelines to enhance the SCS.


He said the Sarawak government always pay attention and appreciates civil servants, especially in improving their competency to ensure the delivery of world-class services.

“To achieve that goal, various initiatives have been implemented including training aspects. Among the training programmes offered are Senior Fellowship Programme, Advanced Management Programme, Oxford Center of Islamic Studies (OXCIS) Sabbatical Programme, and Lee Kuan Yew Senior Fellowship in Public Service Programme.

“Through these programmes, some of our officers have been sent to leading universities including Harvard University, Cambridge University, University of Oxford and Lee Kuan Yes School of Public Policy in Singapore,” said Awang Tengah in his ministerial winding-up speech in the august House today.

Meanwhile, responding to a question from Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, Awang Tengah said three new technical positions have been approved and will be filed in 2024 to assist in the project implementation in Lundu District.

On a similar topic, Awang Tengah said a total of 31 new executive group positions have been allocated for the Kapit Division and will be filed in December 2023 while 16 new technical positions were approved and will be filed in 2024. ā€” DayakDaily
