Sarawak govt contributes RM1.5 mln to two private schools in Miri

MIRI, Oct 22: Two private schools in Miri received special funds totalling RM1.5 million from the Sarawak government in a ceremony held at Pei Min Secondary School, here on Thursday (Oct 21).

Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian was present to hand over the cheques to Pei Min Secondary School amounting to RM708,096 and RM824,166 to Riam Road Secondary School.

“The special funds from the Sarawak government are for the two private schools this year.

“This demonstrates the Sarawak government’s support for private schools in the State,” he said in a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting, Sarawak United Private Chinese Secondary School Association Board of Management vice chairman and Riam Road Secondary School Board of directors Datuk Seri Law Kiu Kiong, Pei Min Secondary School Board of directors Khoor Ooi Long, Pei Min acting principal Yeo Yew Hoe and Riam Road principal James Ting were present. — DayakDaily
