Sarawak govt allocates RM70,000 per door to rebuild fire-ravaged Rumah James Kalip in Tatau

KUCHING, Nov 21: The Sarawak government has stepped in swiftly with RM70,000 worth of building materials for each door to help rebuild Rumah Panjang James Kalip in Sungai Semanok, Tatau, which was wiped out in a fire on Nov 10.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Minister in the Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai said the assistance reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that every affected resident can rebuild their homes as soon as possible and restore stability to their lives.

John Sikie, who visited the fire site to meet the victims, said the incident affected 104 residents from 20 doors.

During the visit, the Kakus assemblyman also handed over RM10,000 in immediate cash aid to each of the 20 doors to help ease the burden of the families who lost their homes.

In addition, he announced RM40,000 allocation under Minor Rural Project (MRP) for the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah James Kalip to support the reconstruction process of the new longhouse.

He stressed that the working visit reinforces the State government’s continuous commitment to safeguarding the welfare of disaster-affected communities and ensuring that follow-up assistance is delivered promptly. – DayakDaily
