Sarawak govt allocates RM10 million to build new Roman Catholic church in Sebauh

KUCHING, July 25: The Sarawak government allocated RM10 million through the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to build a new Roman Catholic church in Sebauh.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Bishop Rev Richard Ng said the allocation would be channelled in phases.

“The construction of this church is expected to take place from 2023 to 2025,” he said during the symbolic handing over ceremony of a check from Unifor for the first phase of the church’s construction at the Sebauh District Office on Saturday (July 23).

Ng added that the estimated cost of building the church is RM11.09 million, which includes other facilities such as the priest’s residence, a hall, office, meeting room, and a classroom.

The cheque was handed to Ng by Sarawak’s Minister for Agriculture Modernisation and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

When completed, the church can accommodate 1,000 people at a time. — DayakDaily
