KUCHING, Sept 20: Governor of Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud appears to be in high spirits and good health as he shares a lighthearted moment with Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in a recent photograph.
The image captures the camaraderie between the two leaders and was originally shared on Taib’s official Instagram account before being cross-posted to the official Instagram account of his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib.
In the photo, Abang Johari is donning a turquoise batik shirt and warmly shaking hands with Taib, who is wearing a beige batik shirt with brown motifs.
The photograph, dated Sept 17, 2023, was accompanied by the expression of gratitude, “Alhamdulillah,” and tagged with the location “official residence of Head of State in Demak Jaya”.
It has been learned that the Premier paid a visit to Taib the previous Sunday afternoon.
On Sept 16, DayakDaily reported that Taib had safely returned home to Kuching in the late afternoon on Malaysia Day and would resume his duties starting from Sept 17.
Prior to this, Taib had been recuperating in Istanbul, Turkey, following a medical procedure.
Taib was absent from his duties since June of this year. During his absence, Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar was appointed Acting Head of State on Aug 16 for a one-month period. — DayakDaily
