KUCHING, March 18: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi will host their Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 Open House at the Astana Negeri Sarawak on the first day of Aidilfitri, from 9am to 4pm.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news, senior private secretary to the Governor, Dato’ Seri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie said this year’s celebration is expected to be more lively, with preparations in full swing to accommodate an estimated 20,000 visitors.
“Preparations are progressing smoothly to ensure efficient traffic management, ample parking, and provision of tents and a variety of dishes for guests,” he said in a media statement today.
Two main parking areas will be available for the public: Wisma Bapa Malaysia and the Sarawak Legislative Assembly car park, with ten vans arranged to ferry visitors to and from the Astana.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will also assist in ensuring smooth traffic flow during the event.
Inside the Astana grounds, two large tents will be set up to accommodate around 1,500 guests each, allowing visitors to enjoy the festive spread in comfort.
“The public from all walks of life is warmly invited to join the celebration and strengthen ties between the leaders and the community.
“Visitors are encouraged to wear traditional attire appropriate to their ethnicities, in neat and modest fashion,” Syed Hamzah added. — DayakDaily
