Sarawak Governor adds to festive CNY cheer at three open houses

KUCHING, Jan 22: Governor of Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib have visited three open houses in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration here today.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the couple started their visit to Sarawak legal advisor Dato Sri JC Fong’s open house at Lagenda Condominium, Jalan Mathies.

Upon arrival, their presence was graced with a lion dance performance.

The open house became more lively with the arrival of the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.

Also present were Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri; Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Julaihi Narawi; and Sarawak Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.

Others included the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali; Deputy Minister of Utility, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi; Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Dr Hazland Abang Hipni; and former Santubong MP Dato Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

Taib also visited the CNY open house of a well-known businessman, Dato Steve Ng, and his wife, Datin Anriza Cordero.

His last visit of the day was the open house of the former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam and wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Wira Lorna Enan Muloon-Chan at the latter’s residence at Jalan Siol Kanan.

For the record, Chan was Taib’s former classmate at St Joseph Miri and St Joseph Kuching before they went to study abroad in Australia. — DayakDaily
