KUCHING, Feb 13: The Sarawak government is exploring the development of housing for the M40 income group, with units priced between RM300,000 and RM550,000 to help middle-income families access homes within their loan eligibility.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the initiative aims to fill the gap between affordable B40 housing and high-end homes that are out of reach for the M40.
“Many M40 households now want to buy houses, but the prices are extremely high. At the same time, they are not eligible for B40 affordable housing.
“Thus, I am still considering developing houses above the usual price range for B40 homes, specifically for middle-management M40 families,” he told reporters after the key-handover ceremony for recipients of the Santubong Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) Project here today.
Abang Johari also said Jepak in Bintulu has been identified as the site for the first pilot M40 housing project, with plans to expand the concept to other areas across the State. – DayakDaily
