Sarawak finally Covid-19 cluster-free but logs 91 new cases and 1 death

KUCHING, Dec 2: There are no more Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak after the last two active clusters were declared ended today.

According to a Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) report, the Jalan Sultan Tengah Rampangi Cluster and Jalan Ong Tiang Swee Cluster, both in Kuching, ended today after reporting zero new cases in the past 28 days.

There were also no new clusters declared in the State.


Meanwhile, Sarawak reported 91 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the State to 250,932.

Eleven out of the 91 cases were spread across Categories 3, 4 and 5 while the balance of 80 cases were across Categories 1 and 2.

Five intubated patients were in Category, one patient on breathing support was in Category 4 and five patients with pneumonia were in Category 3.

There were 49 patients in Category 2 with mild symptoms and 31 patients in Category 1 who were asymptomatic.

SDMC also reported that one Covid-19 fatality involving a 79-year-old man from Sibu who had hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. He succumbed to the coronavirus on Nov 30.

This raised the Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak to 1,590.

By district, Kuching remained top with 26 cases followed by Sibu with 16 cases.

Districts which registered between one and 10 cases were Miri (9), Serian (8), Bintulu (7), Limbang (5), Lawas (5), Lundu (3), Subis (3), Samarahan (2), Bau (2), Simunjan (1), Asajaya (1), Kapit (1), Sarikei (1) and Belaga (1).

Areas which reported zero new Covid-19 cases were Betong, Mukah, Telang Usan, Selangau, Daro, Pusa, Marudi, Saratok, Dalat, Kanowit, Matu, Song , Kabong, Tebedu, Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Julau, Sebauh, Tatau, Beluru, Pakan, Meradong, Tanjung Manis and Lubok Antu. — DayakDaily
