KUCHING, Nov 23: Sarawak exporters are urged to apply for Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos) Promotion Assistance Scheme (Pass) to receive financial aid of SGD10,000 per year.

Statos said Pass is a Sarawak government incentive which offers ‘equal basis matching grants’ on a reimbursement basis to help export-ready companies to cover costs of their strategic planning, promotion and marketing activities.

“The scheme awards up to SGD10,000 to qualifying Sarawak-based exporters, per company, per year.

“These grants will assist exporters to get their products and services into Singapore, from labelling and packaging to advertising and promotional events,” said Statos chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.

He said the Pass incentive will help local entrepreneurs to “break the ice” when penetrating Singapore’s market, and henceforth build confidence and experience in small and medium entreprises (SMEs) to independently pursue new business overseas.

He added this initiative answers Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s calling in October, 2020 to groom local entrepreneurs to break into international export markets with Statos’ services.

Meanwhile, Statos chief executive officer Chew Chang Guan noted the importance for Sarawak exporters to make their presence in Singapore’s market with excellent brand stories along with eye-catchingly packaged, professional, high-quality and certified products.

“Statos wants to work with registered businesses with export-ready items who need help with costs of advertising, packaging, labeling, product demonstrations, food fairs, or product development for the Singaporean market,” he said in a statement today.

Pointing out that Singapore is currently in search for viable overseas partners in Sarawak on food exports, Chew believed Sarawak to be a prime alternative source of food supplies to fill for Singapore.

To apply for Pass grants, or to get advice and assistance on exporting to Singapore, applicants are urged to contact Statos at kenny.lau@statos.com.sg or login to www.statos.com.sg/trade/.  — DayakDaily
