Sarawak Energy hosts delegation from Federal Republic of Somalia

KUCHING, May 30: Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy) recently received a delegation from Ministry of Energy and Water Resources from the Federal Republic of Somalia led by its director-general Abdirizak Mohamed Muhumad.

According to a press statement, the delegation which was in Sarawak for a work visit was also accompanied by a team from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), led by Professor Dr Musse Mohamud Ahmed.

Sarawak Energy Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datu Sharbini Suhaili was represented by Sesco CEO Lau Kim Swee and members of the senior management team to greet the delegation and brief them on the company’s business and 100 years of operations.

Lau shared about Sarawak’s journey and experience in renewable energy development and how hydropower is contributing towards the acceleration of Sarawak’s economic growth towards achieve high income status by 2030 as well as the shift towards a green energy economy. They also spoke on sustainability initiatives and opportunities for purposeful collaborations and investment Sarawak has to offer in the renewable energy sector particularly through the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score).

Lau also briefed Abdirizak on Sarawak’s regional powerhouse ambition to expand the State’s renewable energy footprint and drive an economy that prioritises clean energy in line with the global call to mitigate climate change.

The work visit concluded with a site visit to South-East Asia’s first Integrated Hydrogen Production Plant and Refueling Station here in Kuching. — DayakDaily
