This year’s Sarawak Women’s Day celebration carried the theme “Diversity, Equality, Equity and Inclusivity (D2EI)”, underscoring the State government’s focus on inclusive development that leaves no one behind—regardless of gender, ability or geography.
Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the theme reflects the State’s values and is supported by various on-the-ground initiatives and institutional reforms.
Among the new efforts is the formation of a dedicated D2EI Unit under the Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS), established to accelerate the State’s D2EI agenda and support policy and leadership transformation.
“As a starting point, we have established collaborations with several key organisations including the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the 30% Club, and the Asian Women Leadership University College (AWLUC) to strengthen the direction and implementation of this initiative,” she said in her welcoming speech.
Fatimah also highlighted the SeDidik Young Saver Programme, the expansion of One-Stop Early Intervention Centres (OSEIC), and the Sarawak Women Leadership Chair (SWLC) as tangible examples of D2EI in action.
Also present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki. — DayakDaily
