KUCHING, May 18: Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn has stated that his ministry will continue to hold discussions with the Ministry of Education (MoE) about how to improve the effectiveness of various teaching methods in schools.

Sagah made the remarks while speaking with reporters after officiating at the Gawai Dayak Bazaar 2024 opening ceremony last night (May 17) at MJC Batu Kawah here.

When questioned about any upcoming meetings with the MoE, the minister stated that MEITD will engage in multiple discussions with the Federal side to address and reach a consensus on various matters.

“We need their agreement because they are still in charge of education, so directing the education department to work with us would be much easier,” he said.

Sagah further explained that he has not been able to disclose the matter that will be discussed with MoE yet because discussions are still ongoing.

“However, in general, I believe that the power of devolution gives Sarawak teachers the freedom to choose the method or system they want to use to improve the effectiveness of their teaching.

“MoE has been very responsive and cooperative with us,” he added. — DayakDaily
