KUCHING, July 26: A high-level delegation from Sarawak, led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, hosted a strategic networking dinner with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) as part of an official working visit to Balikpapan from July 25 to 27.
According to a statement, the delegation, comprising senior government officials and business leaders, underscored a commitment to forging not only commercial partnerships but also cultural and diplomatic bridges.
The dinner aimed to deepen bilateral business relationships and pave the way for future economic collaboration between Sarawak and East Kalimantan.
“Sarawak’s engagement in Balikpapan reflects its strategic intent to align with the rapid development of Nusantara, Indonesia’s new capital city, located just a few hours away.
“As demand for infrastructure and investment grows in Kalimantan, Sarawakian businesses are well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to the region’s transformation,” said the statement.
Held in conjunction with the Sarawak Connects Fair 2025, the dinner brought together influential leaders from both sides to engage in meaningful discussions on shared opportunities.
It served as an important platform to introduce Sarawak’s strengths across various sectors and to explore potential partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
The evening concluded with an exchange of mementoes and a group photo session, marking a positive step forward in strengthening ties between the two regions. — DayakDaily
