Sarawak dominates Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia 2025 diving events with 16-medal haul, tops national tally

KUCHING, May 29: Sarawak emerged as the overall champion in diving at the Kejohanan Akuatik Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM) 2025, securing a total of 16 medals comprising 9 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze at the national meet held at Pusat Akuatik MBJB in Johor Bahru from May 24 to 28.

Leading the charge was Soh Tze Kang, who clinched gold in the 3-metre springboard event for the Boys Under-18 category.

Brayden Wong June Siang and Cecelia Olivia Christopher Leoneil also delivered top performances by winning gold in the Boys and Girls Under-15 3-metre springboard events respectively.

Other Sarawak divers who stood out include Muhammad Lutfir Rahman who won silver in the Boys Under-18 3m Springboard, Nurul Farisya Alia Binti Affendi who took silver in the Girls Under-18 3m Springboard, and Nur Ikmas Darwisyah Binti Ikeram who bagged bronze in both the Girls Under-15 1m and 3m Springboard events.

Sarawak’s dominance placed it well ahead of other states in the diving medal standings.

The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur ranked second with a total of 8 medals (2 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze), followed by Selangor with 5 medals (1 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze).

Sabah collected 4 medals (2 silver and 2 bronze), Pulau Pinang 1 silver, and Pahang 2 bronze.

Johor, Perlis, Perak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan did not secure any medals in diving. — DayakDaily
