“In Kuching alone, RM4.2 million was allocated to 10,471 beneficiaries from January to October 2024,” he stated during the Deepavali 2024 Sejambak Kasih event, held in collaboration with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) at a prominent hotel here on Wednesday (Oct 23).

Following the ceremony, 50 welfare aid recipients from Kuching, who were celebrating Deepavali, were honoured.

Each recipient received a cash contribution of RM100 and a basic food hamper valued at RM250, made possible through the partnership between PETRONAS and the Kuching Division Welfare Department.

Demonstrating their commitment to local communities, Petronas also contributed food hampers worth RM12,500 to the recipients.
