This achievement was highlighted in the first PCDS 2030 annual report, officially launched today by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at a ceremony held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.

Launched in 2021, the PCDS serves as a living roadmap and blueprint for building a better Sarawak. It has already marked significant milestones with concrete outcomes.

In the manufacturing sector, Sarawak attracted RM21.5 billion in approved investments from 2021 to 2023, generating over 11,000 new jobs. This growth not only drives economic advancement but also creates valuable opportunities for skill development within local industries.

Sarawak’s tourism sector also flourished, welcoming 3.9 million visitors in 2023, generating RM9.99 billion in revenue. This reflects the global appeal of Sarawak’s rich culture, natural beauty, and unmatched hospitality, enriching communities and empowering businesses.

In forestry, Sarawak’s commitment to environmental sustainability is evident through the planting of 32.5 million trees from 2021 to 2023. This reforestation effort ensures the preservation of the state’s natural heritage for future generations.

Sarawak made impressive strides in utilities and digital transformation, achieving a 99.4 per cent electrification rate, 84.3 per cent water supply coverage, and 78.8 per cent Internet connectivity in 2023. These improvements reflect the Sarawak government’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for all its residents.

The State is also making great strides in renewable energy, with 60 per cent of its energy capacity derived from renewable sources and the sale of five million renewable energy certificates (RECs) in 2023. This commitment to green growth positions Sarawak as a regional leader in sustainable energy.
