KUCHING, Aug 18: Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan led a delegation from Sarawak to visit Prime Minister Dato Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the Perdana Putra in Putrajaya today.
According to a statement, the visit aims to brief the Prime Minister regarding Sarawak’s business in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) in the renewable energy sector.
Among the issues discussed was Sarawak’s role in fulfilling Malaysia’s commitments in the Asean Power Grid Agreement (APG) which was signed in 2007.
The meeting also witnessed the presentation of projects planned by Sarawak in the energy sector with Asean countries such as Singapore and Indonesia.
Awang Tengah also requested the Prime Minister’s support at the meeting so that the projects can be brought to the level of discussion between the governments of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Sarawak Energy Group chief executive officer (CEO) Datu Haji Sharbini Suhaili, Sarawak Economic Planning Unit director Datu Dr Mohammed Abdullah Zaidel, Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak (Mintred) advisor Dato Naroden Majais, and Deputy Attorney Sarawak Governor Saferi Ali. — DayakDaily
