Sarawak delegation in Shanghai visits top global solar industry producer

SHANGHAI, Dec 4: Sarawak’s abundant natural resources, business-friendly policies and attractive incentives by both federal and state governments makes it a preferred investment destination.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan was in Shanghai today, where he met with one of the top global solar industry producers, and took the opportunity to promote Sarawak as a top and unique investment destination.

During the meeting, he shared with the company about business and investment opportunities in Sarawak for the company to consider for their operational expansion outside China.


According to a media release, Awang Tengah, who led a state delegation to Shanghai, was briefed on the company’s plant production, which adopts the latest technologies in producing high standard solar products.

The company also has operations worldwide namely China, Malaysia, USA and Portugal.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (MINTRED) was impressed with their factory operations and research and development (R&D) facility.

He pointed out that such visits was crucial for Sarawak to better understand the solar industry and attract more solar players to the state which also has a vibrant solar industry.

The delegation comprised Assistant Ministers Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and Datuk Malcolm Mussem Lamoh, Permanent Secretary of MINTRED Datu Liaw Soon Eng, Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) chief executive officer (CEO) Datu Ismawi Ismuni, Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Shanghai director Steven Cheng, and other senior MINTRED officials. — DayakDaily
