Sarawak delegation in Los Angeles to study coastal management and devt, urban renewal strategies

KUCHING, July 19: A high-level delegation from the Sarawak government is currently in Los Angeles, United States of America (USA) to study coastal management and development as well as urban renewal strategies for the preparation of guidelines and policies to be implemented in Sarawak.

Led by Deputy Premier and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, the official visit from July 18 to 22 aims to carry out a technical study and benchmarking for the research on coastal management and development and urban renewal.

According to a press statement today, the Sarawak delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate General of Malaysia in Los Angeles Anil Fahriza Adenan, Vice Consul Faidzul Shuib and Trade Commissioner Zuaziezie Zulkefli.


During the meeting, they discussed strengthening the potential relationship and cooperation between the Sarawak government and the USA through investment opportunities including in timber, mining, petrochemical and renewable energy sectors.

Apart from that, Awang Tengah also shared information with the Consulate General regarding the State government’s initiative to make Sarawak a developed State by 2030 through Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 with its focus on economic structure, business facilities, spending targets, optimising human assets and capital, digital and implementation, social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

The 10-member delegation consisted of Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datu Len Talif Salleh, advisor to Ministry of International Trade and Investment Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais as well as senior officers from the ministry and Land and Survey Department Sarawak. — DayakDaily
