Sarawak DCMs included in DUN’s Committee of Privileges

KUCHING, Feb 16: All three Sarawak deputy chief ministers have been included in the Committee of Privileges for the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

They are Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.


The committee, chaired by DUN Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, is responsible in considering questions of parliamentary privilege as well as matters relating to the conduct of DUN members.

Other House members appointed in the committee are Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah (Asajaya), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali (Samariang), Datuk Dr Malcom Mussen Lamoh (Batang Ai) and Dato Idris Buang (Muara Tuang).

Mohamad Asfia is also the chairman for the House Committee which considers bills and issues and oversees agencies, programmes, and activities within its jurisdictions as well as Public Petition Committee which handles petitions of any matter from the public.

Meanwhile, Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yunus was made the chairwoman of the DUN Events Committee.

“This committee shall assist the House Committee in the planning, organising, managing and monitoring of any event or matter relating to comfort and convenience, amenities and facilities of members of the DUN,” Mohamad Asfia said when addressing the august House here today.

Additionally, Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor was made the chairman for the Public Accounts Committee to oversee the administration of public funds and government accountability.

Members of this committee included Lo Khere Chiang (Batu Kitang), Mohamad Chee Kadir (Kabong), Wilson Nyabong Ijang (Pelagus), Miro Simuh (Serembu), Rolland Duat Jubin (Meluan) and a member of the Opposition, See Chee How (Batu Lintang). – DayakDaily
