MIRI, June 21: The Sarawak Day 2025 celebration is set to light up Miri City with a vibrant lineup of seven major events from July 20 to 22, promising a festive and unifying atmosphere for all Sarawakians.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Transport Minister and minister-in-charge of the Sarawak Day 2025 celebration, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, announced that the celebration will kick off with the Sales & Sarawak Talent Carnival, a three-day event to be held at Miri City Stadium.
Organised by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), the carnival will showcase local talent, entrepreneurship, and cultural pride.
“On the morning of July 20, the public is invited to participate in the Zumba Rakyat programme, organised by the Miri District Office. Set to take place at the same venue from 7.15am to 10.30am, the event is expected to draw thousands of enthusiastic participants in a show of community spirit and healthy living,” he told a press conference on Friday (June 20).
That evening, the Multi-Faith Thanksgiving Ceremony, organised by the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor), will be held at Meritz Hotel, while the Islamic Thanksgiving Ceremony, hosted by the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), is scheduled for July 21 at 6pm at Masjid At-Taqwa.
On July 22, the public can join the Unity Walk, organised by the Miri Resident’s Office, which begins at 7am at Miri City Stadium. This symbolic walk aims to highlight the unity and shared aspirations of Sarawakians toward a more inclusive and sustainable future.
In the afternoon, a Townhall Session will take place at 2pm at Imperial Hotel. Organised in collaboration with the Miri City Council (MBM), the session will serve as an open dialogue between the Sarawak government and the people — providing a platform for Sarawakians to share their aspirations and ideas directly with leaders.
The celebration will culminate with the Sarawak Day Assembly at 8pm on July 22 at Miri City Stadium. The highlight event is jointly organised by the Sarawak Protocol, Ceremony and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) and the Miri Resident’s Office.
“In this spirit of unity and pride, I call upon all Sarawakians to come together and participate in the scheduled events — from the Sales Carnival and Sarawak Talent showcases to the Unity Walk and the Sarawak Day Assembly.
“Your presence will not only enliven the celebrations but also reflect the unity, pride, and commitment we all share as Sarawakians under the banner of a Progressive and Prosperous Sarawak,” Lee said. — DayakDaily
