Sarawak Covid-19 update: 5 recovered and discharged

KUCHING, Sept 4: Five Covid-19 patients in Sarawak have recovered and been discharged as of today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that one was discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and four were from Bintulu Hospital.


These resulted in an increase of the total number of recoveries in the state to 668 cases or 95.57 per cent of total Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, no new positive Covid-19 cases were reported today leaving the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak at 699.

SDMC also said the only active cluster left in the state is the Alam cluster in Bintulu involving a total of eight cases.

On a related issue, it said that a total of 12 patients were still receiving treatment in the isolation wards.

Seven individuals are being treated in Bintulu Hospital, four in SGH and another one in the Miri Hospital.

Meanwhile, the committee cautioned against taking children aged 12 and below to crowded places such as night markets.

As for the creative industry such as cinemas, customers aged 12 and below, and 60 and above are not encouraged to visit the screening halls.

SDMC added that there was a total of seven new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases and zero cases awaiting laboratory test results.

It also said that there were 78 person-under-surveillance (PUS) who were registered into various hotels across Sarawak to be quarantined.

There is now a total of 669 individuals under quarantine in 12 hotels throughout Sarawak while 23,417 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantines. —DayakDaily
