Sarawak’s Covid-19 cases slide to under 600 cases today

KUCHING, April 2: The number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak continues downward with 596 cases recorded today.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said among the total, only five were in serious categories.


Breaking down the clinical categories, there were 222 Category 1’s, 369 Category 2’s, one each of Category 3 and 4, and three Category 5’s.

In terms of districts, Kuching remained the biggest contributor reporting 212 cases.

Those with double-digit case numbers were Miri (95), Sibu (43), Bintulu (37), Samarahan (25), Bau (22), Serian (20), Sarikei (20), Sri Aman (10), and Mukah (10).

Other districts with new infections included Lundu, Pakan, Simunjan (9 each), Asajaya (8), Daro, Tanjung Manis (7 each), Limbang (6), Betong (5), Marudi, Saratok, Pusa, Dalat, Kanowit (4 each), Lawas, Kabong, Tebedu, Lubok Anrtu (3 each), Tatau, Julau (2 each), Belaga, Subis, Matu, Meradong, Sebauh, and Beluru (1 each).

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak was thus pushed to 299,585.

Meanwhile, there was a new Covid-19 death reported today, involving an 83-year-old female from Limbang who had diabetes and dyslipidemia.
