Covid-19 in Sarawak: 676 new cases, 14 in critical categories

KUCHING, Oct 28: There were 14 Covid-19 patients in Categories 3, 4 and 5 out of the total of 676 new cases reported in Sarawak today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) registered four patients in Category 3 with lung infections, two in Category 4 with lung infections and needing oxygen, and eight in Category 5 with lung infections and requiring ventilator support.


The remainder of the new cases were taken up by Categories 1 and 2 patients with zero or mild symptoms. There were 220 Category 1 patients and 442 Category 2 patients reported today.

In terms of case count by district, Kuching remained at the top with 170 cases, followed by Miri with 154.

Other districts that reported double-digit case numbers were Sibu (83), Bintulu (41), Serian (27), Sarikei (24), Betong (24), Lawas (15), Mukah (14), Samarahan (13), Tanjung Manis (13), Lundu (10), and Pusa (10).

The remaining 23 districts with new infections comprised Bau (9), Dalat (7), Sri Aman (6), Kapit, Marudi, Subis (5 cases each), Simunjan, Meradong, Kanowit, Beluru (4 cases each), Asajaya, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan (3 cases each), Limbang, Saratok, Julau, Tebedu, Sebauh, Kabong (2 cases each), Belaga, Song, Selangau, and Matu (one case each).

Only four districts registered zero new Covid-19 cases. They were Daro, Bukit Mabong, Pakan, and Tatau.
