Sarawak Covid-19 daily toll doubles to 47 today with 11 cases identified in Kuching

KUCHING, Jan 5: The daily Covid-19 caseload in Sarawak has doubled from yesterday’s 24 to 47 cases today.

Out the 47 cases, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reported that 45 of them were in clinical Categories 1, 2 and 3 while the remaning two are in the serious categories.


Further breakdowns showed there were 29 in Category 1 where the patients did not display any symptoms and 16 in Category 2 who were showing mild symptoms.

There was one patient classified as Category 3 with lung infection while one was diagnosed as Category 4 patient who was suffering from pneumonia and needing oxygen.

In terms of districts, Kuching took up 11 cases while Bintulu and Song registered nine cases each.

Other districts included Sibu which registered 5 cases, Lawas (4), Limbang (2), Kanowit (2), Miri (1), Samarahan (1), Lubok Antu (1), Pakan (1), and Subis (1).

As of this day, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the State stands at 252,424.

Meanwhile, Sarawak continues to report zero new death cases and new clusters. — Dayakdaily
