New Sarawak Covid-19 cases fall under 3-digit mark, 387 less than yesterday

KUCHING, March 7: Sarawak reported 857 new Covid-19 cases today, a significant drop from yesterday’s total of 1,244 new cases.

This is Sarawak’s first sign of improvement following six days of daily case counts breaching the 1,000-mark since March 1.

In its update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reported that by district, Kuching showed the largest increase with 344 new cases recorded.

Other districts reporting three-digit numbers were Miri and Sibu, with 127 cases each.

The eight districts which saw double-digit case gains were Bintulu (47), Samarahan (34), Sarikei (25), Mukah (25), Serian (16), Limbang (15), Kanowit (12), and Sri Aman (10).

The remaining districts with new infections comprised Lawas (9), Saratok (8), Bau and Meradong (7 each), Marudi, Dalat and Matu (6 each), Kapit, Daro and Pakan (5 each), Subis (4), Betong, Lundu and Selangau (2 each), and Belaga (1).

By clinical categories, there were 352 cases in Category 1, 502 cases in Category 2, two cases in Category 4, and one case in Category 5.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak now stands at 268,512.
