KUCHING, Aug 12: Sarawak is attracting interest from international companies keen to explore digital and green investment opportunities, particularly in green ammonia, during Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan’s working visit to Tokyo, Japan.
According to a statement, Awang Tengah, who is also the Sarawak Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment as well as Sarawak Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, met with two potential investors today.
Earlier in the day, Awang Tengah met with a digital company to discuss its interest in data-based investments in Sarawak. The proposed project is currently undergoing a feasibility study.
He also held discussions with US-based First Ammonia, which is partnering with Danish technology leader Topsoe, on plans to develop a next-generation green ammonia production facility in Sarawak. The project would support the State’s Hydrogen Economy Roadmap.
Welcoming the investment interest, Awang Tengah emphasised that proposed projects should create mutual benefits for both Japan and Sarawak, delivering lasting value through job creation, technology transfer, skills development, and economic spin-offs to benefit local suppliers, contractors and communities. — DayakDaily
