KUCHING, Sept 5: Sarawak continues to stand out as a model of harmony in religious and cultural diversity, says Governor (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul 1447H today.

He emphasised that the spirit of unity and mutual respect among Sarawakians of different backgrounds has always been the State’s strength, making it an exemplary society for Malaysia.

“This year’s theme, ‘Ummah Maju Makmur’, reflects our shared aspiration to take Prophet Muhammad SAW as the best example in building a community that not only advances in physical and economic development, but also prospers in knowledge, noble character and spirituality.

“The celebration serves as a reminder for Muslims to emulate the Prophet’s leadership, compassion and integrity in daily life. Islam upholds the concept of balanced development between worldly progress and the hereafter,” he said in a message issued by Astana Negeri Sarawak.

In tandem with the Post Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, Wan Junaidi said the Sarawak government has placed emphasis on digital economy, environmental sustainability, social wellbeing and inclusivity.

At the same time, education and the nurturing of morally upright human capital must be strengthened, as knowledge and ethics are the foundation of the ummah’s progress.

He also highlighted the establishment of the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund (SSWF) as a strategic step to safeguard the wellbeing of the people and ensure continuity for future generations.

In his Maulidur Rasul message, Wan Junaidi together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi and family extended greetings to Muslims across Sarawak, while urging them to renew their commitment to live by the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW for the betterment of religion, the State and a more prosperous future. – DayakDaily
