“In 2026 alone, Batang Igan, Batang Lupar No 1, Sungai Krian (Bridge) and Sejingkat Bridge were opened to public, while several other major bridges namely Batang Lupar No 2, Batang Saribas No 2, Batang Paloh (Bridge) and Batang Rambungan Bridge are expected to be completed progressively,” said Uggah.

Uggah, who is also Deputy Premier, shared this update when presenting project progress under the Alternative Funding (AF) initiative, whereby the Sarawak government has committed to implementing 1,869 projects.

Of these, 1,246 projects (67 per cent) have been completed, while the remaining 623 projects are at various stages of implementation.

He added that these projects will reduce travel time, ease ferry dependency, improve access to essential services and markets, and create new opportunities for rural communities.

The Bukit Saban assemblyman also shared that for northern Sarawak, the Northern Coastal Highway, which comprises approximately 87.96km of dual carriageway and 10.16km of spur roads is also progressing in Limbang and Lawas.

“These (Northern Coastal Highway) will further strengthen connectivity within the wider northern region, Sabah, and neighbouring Brunei Darussalam,” said Uggah. – DayakDaily
