Sarawak CM to meet Indonesian energy authorities in March

KUCHING, Feb 17: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to meet the Indonesian authorities in Jakarta in the second week of March.

A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office clarified that the meeting is not taking place next week as stated by the chief minister yesterday.

The purpose of the meeting was to explore further on energy development in Kalimantan.

Abang Johari, in a Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women’s function yesterday, said the Indonesian government had indicated its intention to collaborate with Sarawak to develop its hydropower potential in Kalimantan, leveraging on Sarawak’s experience in hydro power development.

He said he will be meeting the relevant Indonesian ministerial authorities in the Indonesian capital to deliberate on the proposed role of Sarawak in such a cooperation. — DayakDaily
