KUCHING, April 6: Sarawak Bumiputera entrepreneurs and investors have been encouraged to form strategic consortia to tap into opportunities under the sixth round of the Large-Scale Solar (LSS6) programme, which is set to reopen in West Malaysia.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof said LSS6 is expected to reopen with a minimum investment of around RM350 million, requiring a more coordinated approach among local industry players.
“If this opportunity were to open in Sarawak, not many of us would be able to participate individually.
“Therefore, we need a clear strategy to jointly seize the opportunity — by forming consortia that involve various parties within the Bumiputera community with different experiences and backgrounds,” he was quoted as saying by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), during the Program Jihad Bisnes 2026 at Dewan Mutiara, Tinggian Demak, today.
He noted that forming consortia of individuals and companies with diverse expertise and experience could strengthen the position of Bumiputera firms in bidding for large-scale projects like LSS6.
The Petra Jaya MP also gave an early hint for Sarawak industry players to start planning and seeking strategic partners, even though the projects will be implemented in West Malaysia.
“I am giving an early indication that although this project involves West Malaysia, interested Sarawak entrepreneurs can still participate.
“The important thing is to start now — think strategically and find suitable partners to get involved together,” he added. — DayakDaily
