KUCHING, July 18: The Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Bumiputera entrepreneurs by enhancing service quality and professionalism, while updating the Sarawak government on its ongoing development projects—including a RM90 million commercial complex in Kuching.
During a courtesy visit to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today, the DUBS delegation—led by president Datuk Abang Helmi Ikhwan—presented updates on the progress of projects and business machinery sponsored by the State government.
“So far, we have updated him on the latest developments of these projects. The Sarawak Premier has always shown concern for the Bumiputera business community and has supported us in many ways.
“The Premier has helped us a lot, especially in organising training programmes for Bumiputera entrepreneurs. Even aspiring entrepreneurs from the public have benefited from financial contributions channelled through the government,” Abang Helmi was quoted as saying by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
He added that DUBS also shared updates on the status of the DUBS Complex currently under construction at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee.
According to a TVS report, construction of the new complex began in November 2024 and is scheduled for completion by November 2026.
The project comprises two seven-storey blocks with a total development cost of RM90 million, of which RM80.23 million is funded through a Sarawak government grant.
Once completed, the complex will feature 87 commercial office units, the DUBS corporate office with a multi-purpose resource centre, 11 retail lots on the ground floor, and parking for 185 cars and 72 motorcycles, including basement and upper-level parking.
DUBS expects the new facility to become a growth catalyst for the Bumiputera business community, allowing it to play a more prominent role in advancing the State’s ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur’ vision toward achieving developed and inclusive status by 2030. — DayakDaily
