KUCHING, Aug 4: The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) will organise a Sarawak Bomba Run 2023 on Dec 3 to raise funds for children homes in Kuching and Sri Aman.
Sarawak Bomba director Datuk Khirudin Drahman said apart from that, the run is also aimed at raising funds for Bomba.
“The proceeds from the run are going to be donated to the Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Children Home in Kuching and Datuk Ajibah Abol Children Home in Sri Aman.
“This is important, because we are not only running keep ourselves healthy but at the same time we are also giving back to the community,” he told a press conference after the soft launch of the Bomba Run 1.0 2023 held at Bomba headquarters in Jalan Setia Raja, today.
Meanwhile, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng encouraged members of the public to join and support the event.
“I believe that the people of Kuching or Sarawak as a whole is a very caring society. So please do whatever you can to show your appreciation of what Bomba has done,” he added.
Sarawak Bomba Run 1.0 2023 will be held at MBKS square starting at 6am, with six categories namely 3KM Family Run, 10KM Open (Competitive Run with winners from first place until tenth place), Men Open (15 to 44-years-old, born 2008 and older), Women Open (15 to 44-years-old, born 2008 and older), Men Veteran Open (45-years-old and above, born 1979 and older) and Women Veteran Open (45-years-old and above, born 1979 and older).
