KUCHING, Jan 12: Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is the right person continue leading Sarawak as he is an experience politician in managing political dynamics, said SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He added that after the passing of former Chief Minister the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem on January 11 in 2017, Abang Johari, as the next most senior leader in line from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), was the right choice to succeed Adenan who is also fondly remembered as Tok Nan.

“(Sarawak is) blessed to have Captain Abang Jo to continue Team Tok Nan. He is an experienced person who can handle ever changing pollical dynamics,” Dr Sim said in conjunction with Abang Johari’s 3rd anniversary today.

He reiterated that Abang Johari has taken it upon himself to continue Adenan’s legacy in fighting for Sarawak’s autonomy and rights

“Abang Johari is a courageous leader who dares to move Sarawak towards future challenges by embarking on bold, new policies such as the digital economy, modernising the agricultural sector, revenue engineering, providing security along the coastal areas with the setting up of coastal guards and the setting up of foreign trade offices,” he said.

Dr Sim who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing pointed out that Abang Johari has also embarking on accelerating the implementation of basic amenities for rural areas such as roads and bridges, water, electivity and schools without depending on Putrajaya.

“He has also introduced people-centric policies such as providing RM1,000 to every newborn to Sarawakian couples under the Endowment Fund of Sarawak (EFS); RM600 air ticket for students coming back for their holidays; RM450 for mothers who give birth, and free school bus services in Kuching, both of which start this year,” added Dr Sim. — DayakDaily
