KUCHING, Jan 11: Sarawak Blessed Church’s newly completed Sanctuary stands as more than just a physical structure—it embodies a beacon of hope, faith, and unity.
Spanning 5,440 square metres, the Sanctuary accommodates 4,581 seats and features state-of-the-art concert hall facilities. Its four-story auditorium, equipped with cutting-edge audiovisual systems, ensures an exceptional worship experience for all visitors.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg highlighted the Sanctuary as a powerful testament to the dedication, vision, and collective effort of Anak Sarawak.
“As we gather in this sanctuary, we are reminded of the importance of unity. Sarawak’s greatest strength lies in its diversity. Our multiethnic, multireligious society is a blessing, and organisations like Sarawak Blessed Church nurture harmony and mutual respect among us.
“This sanctuary is not merely a place of worship; it is a hub for community engagement—a space where individuals from all walks of life unite in shared purpose. It exemplifies how unity in faith and service leads to remarkable achievements,” he said in a speech delivered by Minister in the Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai during the launching ceremony tonight.
Construction of the Sanctuary began in January 2021 to accommodate the growing needs of the congregation.
Beyond the main hall, the new building houses four spacious children’s rooms, a bookshop, professional audiovisual rooms, and church offices to support diverse functions. Nearly 1,000 parking spaces are available to welcome visitors.
Abang Johari further reflected on Sarawak’s future, envisioning a thriving, united, and progressive region.
“We aspire to build a Sarawak that is economically vibrant, socially inclusive, and environmentally sustainable—a Sarawak where our people are enriched not only materially but also spiritually and morally.”
He praised the church’s focus on youth ministry, aligning with Sarawak’s vision for prosperity.
“Our youth are our greatest asset—the foundation of our future. Their growth and empowerment are essential to Sarawak’s progress.
“Communities thrive by investing in their youth and ensuring no one is left behind. Through tireless efforts, Sarawak Blessed Church contributes directly to our shared vision for a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed,” he added.
Abang Johari encouraged the church to continue its role as a force for good in society.
“Together, let us build a Sarawak strong in its values, united in its diversity, and prosperous in its future.
“May this sanctuary be a place of transformation and inspiration for generations to come—a beacon of light, a source of hope, and a testament to what is possible when we unite in faith and purpose.”
Senior Pastor Lim Gee Tiong expressed heartfelt gratitude for the dedication of the church community over the years.
“From a small congregation of 70 in 1995 to over 3,500 members today, our journey has been nothing short of miraculous. Every step has been guided by God’s grace, and this sanctuary is a testament to His faithfulness. We remain committed to transforming lives, blessing communities, and glorifying God in all we do,” he said
In celebration of the Sanctuary’s opening, the church donated RM50,000 to 13 charitable organisations, reflecting its commitment to community service.
