KUCHING, Nov 6: The Sarawak government fully supports the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) proposal to introduce tax incentives for private companies that implement anti-corruption programmes.

“We support any preventive efforts against corruption and any programme introduced by MACC at both federal and state levels.

“The Sarawak government fully supports them and adds value through various seminars, programmes and grassroots engagements to promote the importance of integrity and rejecting corrupt practices,” he said when met after the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) Conference 2025 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

He also said Sarawak conducts various programmes throughout the year, in line with the NACS to ensure the nation’s targets are achieved.

“If the states don’t work hard, it will be difficult for the federal level to deliver,” he added.

In his keynote address earlier, MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Dato Sri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said the commission is working to encourage private sector participation in the national anti-corruption agenda through policy incentives.

He explained that under NACS 2024–2028, MACC is proposing tax exemptions for companies that adopt anti-corruption measures, as well as new protections and recognition for whistleblowers and incentives for creative industries to produce integrity-themed content. – DayakDaily
