KUCHING, May 22: The Sarawak Legislative Assembly unanimously approved the Supplementary Supply (2024) Bill, 2025, authorising an additional RM153,769,197 (RM153.8 million) for ordinary expenditure.
Deputy Premier and Second Minister of Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas highlighted that this additional expenditure is to cover the cost of various services undertaken by ministries and departments that were either not provided for or insufficiently funded in the 2024 budget estimates.
The assembly also approved an extra RM18,924,724 (RM18.9 million) for development expenditure in 2024.
When tabling the Bill, Uggah revealed that the additional provisions are required for 29 sub-activities and 37 sub-activities under development expenditure.
“The amount required has been vired from savings among the subheads concerned and/or advanced from contingencies reserves,” he said told the august House.
Of the additional development funds, RM12,424,354 (RM12.4 million) has been allocated for special projects, while RM6,500,020 (RM6.5 million) was earmarked for the development of the transport sector.
The remaining funds was designated for land infrastructure, riverine infrastructure, government building, public utilities, land development, land compensation and residential extension, urban development, rural development, public finance, planning and development, forestry, and crop agriculture. — DayakDaily
