KUCHING, Nov 6: Sarawak is one of the best-performing states in Malaysia’s anti-corruption efforts, according to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Dato Sri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya.
He said the Sarawak government’s strong political will and consistent efforts to uphold integrity have placed the State ahead in implementing anti-corruption measures effectively.
“Alhamdulillah, we can see the commitment and determination of the Sarawak government, especially in its efforts to fight corruption.
“Today is one of the best examples of how serious the State government is in addressing corruption and upholding integrity among its people,” he said when met after delivering his keynote address at the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) Conference 2025 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.
Ahmad Khusairi said the level of corruption in Sarawak remains minimal compared with other states, crediting the achievement to the leadership’s continuous push for integrity through programmes and policies that reach the grassroots.
“What’s most important is the seriousness of the government. Yesterday there was a programme, today there is a programme, and tomorrow too there will be programmes related to integrity. That shows real commitment,” he added.
He also praised the State’s integrity pact as an effective initiative that goes beyond policy documentation, as it is actively enforced and produces tangible results.
During his keynote speech, Ahmad Khusairi highlighted that the NACS 2024–2028, launched last year, has achieved notable milestones with 20 sub-strategies successfully implemented as of October 2025.
He said these include reforms in public procurement transparency, mandatory integrity and anti-corruption education in schools and universities, and improved complaints management systems—all designed to strengthen governance and public trust.
To enhance accountability, MACC has also developed two monitoring tools—the r-NACS dashboard for inter-agency coordination and the d-NACS dashboard for public viewing—to track progress in real time.
He reaffirmed that these ongoing efforts are part of Malaysia’s broader goal to be ranked among the world’s top 25 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) by 2033.
The Conference was launched by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department of Sarawak (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya. – DayakDaily
