KUCHING, July 9: Sara Entertainment Sdn Bhd has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Rusa Marketing Sdn Bhd (Rusa Music) to embark on knowledge sharing on managing and developing Sarawakian artists.
Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (Creative Industry and Performing Arts) Dato Snowdan Lawan said Rusa Music has been in the Malaysian entertainment industry for over a decade, producing wonderful artists such as Floor 88 band and Baby Shima.
“Sarawak has many singing talents too but sometimes we don’t know how to go about it.
“Take Iban singer Andrewson Ngalai for instance, his song ‘Bekikis Bulu Betis’ is quite well known and is even played in Johor, Pahang and Singapore, but sometimes people do not know the singer,” he said when speaking during the MoA signing ceremony held at Star On Stage, Kuching today.
Thus, he believed that the MOA would serve as an appropriate platform to assist and guide Sarawakian talents to greater heights.
The MoA was signed between Sara Entertainment managing director Rizwan Edris and Rusa Music director Bratt Pua, and witnessed by Sara Entertainment general manager Awangku Azrie Awg Dzulkarnain and Rusa Music operation manager Bon Siong Hooi.
The MoA will see both parties collaborate for about one to two years where Rusa Music would assist the local artists in terms of royalty collection, publishing and marketing.
Meanwhile, Rizwan explained that Sara Entertainment will also set up a Sara Academy located in Metrocity, Kuching to provide training for potential and emerging talents.
“Applications for the first intake will open in August this year,” he emphasised.
