SAR launched to find missing angler at Sg Tatai

SRI AMAN, Dec 20: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been launched to find a 56-year-old man, who was feared drowned after he went missing during a fishing trip at Sg Tatai, Lachau, today.

The state Fire and Rescue Department immediately set up a SAR team after being informed of the incident by Sri Aman police.

According to the department, the younger sibling of the victim made a police report when the victim did not return home after going for a fishing trip in Tatai River since yesterday.


ā€œWorried for the victimā€™s safety, the younger sibling made a police report at Lachau police station, which later requested for an assistance from the Sri Aman fire station for a SAR operation to be deployed,ā€ the department continued.

The SAR operations covered a 2km radius from the location of where the victim was last seen, together with the police and local villagers.

The search and rescue was postponed at 6pm, after efforts to locate the victim was unsuccessful. ā€” DayakDaily
