KUCHING, July 3: The Sarawak People’s Aspiration Association (SAPA) Miri branch will host a 722 Car Convoy and possibly a peace march during the upcoming Sarawak Independence Day (722).
SAPA Miri is currently working with several local non-governmental organisations to plan the route and event details.
The Independence Day event will include a car convoy going around the city to share the joy of the 61st anniversary of Sarawak’s independence with the public.
“We’re expecting 10 to 15 cars to join us in the convoy that covers most parts of Miri city.
“The convoy will start from the down town centre to Lutong-Senadin, then to Taman Tunku, before back to town,” said SAPA Miri in a press statement.
It is also the hope of SAPA Miri that this event may serve to educate Sarawakians the true meaning of independence.
“If conditions are met, the branch will launch a short peace parade after the car convoy to celebrate the country’s gazetted Independence Day,” said SAPA Miri. — DayakDaily
