KUCHING, May 15: A two-storey sanitary ware factory, which also accommodates a birds nest house, at Mile 9, Jalan Oya Lama, Sibu, caught fire early Friday morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) was alerted at 1.38 am immediately after the fire started.
According to a BOMBA report, 30 percent of the 50 X 50 square feet structure was destroyed in the fire, which was later put under control by the BOMBA personnel upon reaching the scene.
Losses from the fire have yet to be ascertained and the BOMBA team finished their operation at around 5 am.
Meanwhile one of the workers said that the upper level of the factory was used to keep swiftlets for collecting the birds nest while the ground level was used for producing and storing the sanitary ware. – DayakDaily
