KUCHING, Oct 1: Two legendary Malaysian rock bands, Search and XPDC, will join forces to unleash an unforgettable, high-octane concert in Kuching on Dec 13.
Themed ‘Samurai Phenomenon’, the concert will take place at Stadium Sarawak, promising an epic night of rock anthems and raw energy.
Organisers Seri Simfoni Sdn Bhd and Bintang Batu Event described the concert as a carefully curated artistic project, designed to uphold the credibility and legacy of both bands while delivering more than just an ordinary performance.
“This is an epic collaboration between two legendary Malaysian bands, each with their own unique identity and loyal fan base. They will unite on Dec 13 for a historic four-hour concert featuring at least 40 songs,” said producer Ikhram Zainuddin at a press conference held at Riverside Majestic Hotel Astana Wing today.
The line-up will see XPDC, featuring Izo, Lola, Eddie, Arif and Mamu, take the stage alongside Search, fronted by the iconic Din and Kid.
Ikhram hailed the two groups as giants of Malaysia’s music scene, noting that their influence since the 1980s remains as relevant as ever. He added that their fan base has not only endured but grown across generations.
“When Seri Simfoni and Bintang Batu Event planned the Samurai Phenomenon concert, our top priority was quality. There will be no compromise on the credibility of Search and XPDC. This concert will stand on its own standards, be it music selection, sound quality, or performance,” Ikhram stressed.
Speaking on behalf of Search, Din said the upcoming concert is not only about nostalgia, but also about showing appreciation to fans who have stood by both bands through their turbulent journeys.
“This isn’t just a concert where fans come to watch and listen. Our audience already understands and connects deeply with our struggles, our passion, and our fight,” Din said.
The press conference was graced by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who was the guest of honour.
