Samarahan Resident Mohamad Irwan heads 152 honoured at Sarawak State Medals ceremony

KUCHING, Feb 5: The Resident of Samarahan Division, Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, topped the list of 152 recipients at today’s Sarawak State Medals and Orders of Honour Investiture Ceremony.

He was among nine recipients of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (P.P.C.) – Excellent Service Medal, alongside prominent Sarawak officials including Superi Awang Said, director of the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit, Premier’s Department; Rusmaliza Mat Darus, director of the Administration Unit, Premier’s Department; Dr Veronica Lugah, director of the Sarawak Health Department; and Lo Sheu Sia, deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment.

Other notable P.P.C. recipients included Wan Mohamad Wan Drahman, chief administrator of the Sarawak Ombudsman, Integrity and Ombudsman Unit; Omar Mahli, director of the Sarawak Education Department; Syed Ismail Nasiruddin Dato’ Sri Wan Hashim, deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development; and Syed Mohamad Fauzi Shahaib, deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of Utilities and Communications.

According to the Sarawak Information Department news, the ceremony was officiated by Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, at Astana Negeri.

During the investiture, four recipients were awarded the Darjah Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (P.B.S.) – Officer of the Star of Sarawak, including Dr Lim Meng Shi, Consultant Urologist at Borneo Medical Centre; Murugaiah Meyappan, associate editor of New Sarawak Tribune; Sulaiman Salleh, principal of Geomatics Survey Consultants; and Nor Shahida Mohd Sahimi, chief assistant director of the Coordination, Control, and Monitoring Division, Ministry of Economy.

The Governor also conferred the Darjah Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (P.B.K.) – Officer of the Hornbill Star to 17 recipients and the Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (P.P.B.) – Commendable Service Medal to 20 recipients.

Additionally, 13 individuals received the Darjah Ahli Bintang Sarawak (A.B.S.) – Member of the Star of Sarawak, 21 were awarded the Darjah Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (A.B.K.) – Member of the Hornbill Star, and 32 received the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (P.P.T.) – Commendable Service Medal.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Darjah Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S.) – Herald of the Star of Sarawak to 36 recipients, marking the largest group of honourees at the investiture.

Also present were wife of the Governor Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and other distinguished guests. — DayakDaily
