KUCHING, Oct 19: Outgoing Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Dato Sri Joseph Salang Gandum plans to enjoy a more relaxed life after stepping down from the party’s top post.

When asked what he will do with his free time, Salang said he wants to play golf more often and spend more time with friends.

“I will play golf more often and maybe go to Kuala Lumpur more frequently,” he said when met after the PRS’ 21st anniversary dinner in conjunction with the conclusion of the party’s 6th Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) here earlier today.

Asked if he has a house in Kuala Lumpur, he replied: “No, I don’t. But many of my friends are there, so I will spend more time with them.”

Salang, who took over the presidency following the passing of PRS founding president the late Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing in 2021, officially ended his tenure today.

He was succeeded by Minister in the Premier’s Department and Kakus assemblyman Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai who defeated Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang in a straight fight for the presidency. — DayakDaily
