KUCHING, Nov 23: Sacofa Sdn Bhd (Sacofa), Sarawak’s leading information, communications and technology (ICT) infrastructure company today announced the appointment of Al-Fazirul Abdullah as the company’s new managing director effective Nov 19.
Sacofa in a statement said Fazirul has over 25 years of experience working for large multinational organisations such as Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Ericsson, covering the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Australia region with expertise in business management, sales, customer-facing, technology implementation, professional services, project management, software development, support and maintenance and partnering.
He brings with him a wealth of experience in implementing solutions for the technology, telecommunications, banking, oil and gas, automotive and utilities industries.
He has had a very impressive career, mostly recently as chief executive officer (CEO) for a large Malaysian conglomerate.
Prior to that, he headed and expanded the consulting business for Ericsson APAC and doubled up as CSI Regional Programme Director for complex high-value projects, reporting directly to Ericsson HQ in Sweden.
Before Ericsson, Fazirul had worked for IBM Global Services as business transformation director, Hewlett Packard Professional Services as associate partner, and chief operating officer for a large Malaysian telecommunications company focusing on technology or telecommunications infrastructure.
As for academic background, Fazirul holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences from the United Kingdom and has completed a vast amount of training in top management courses from Hewlett-Packard and IBM, both locally and internationally.
