SRI AMAN, May 10: Preparations for the full operation of the Jelukong Rest and Relaxation (R&R) area along the Pan Borneo Highway are progressing steadily, with a full opening scheduled for May 15, 2026.
Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR Sarawak) Director, Datu Dr Cassidy Morris, conducted an on-site inspection yesterday (May 9) to assess the readiness of food stalls and the convenience store at the R&R site.
“The visit focused on ensuring operational readiness and that all facilities are in good condition ahead of the full launch,” JKR Sarawak wrote in a Facebook post.
As part of the early rollout, several food stalls have already begun limited operations, offering highway users an early glimpse of the services and environment available at the R&R.
In addition, cleaning and maintenance works are actively ongoing, covering key facilities such as toilets, surau, and surrounding areas to ensure comfort and cleanliness for visitors.
Security at the R&R is also being closely monitored around the clock to maintain a safe, orderly and conducive environment for the public.
The Jelukong R&R is part of the broader effort to enhance highway amenities along the Pan Borneo route, improving convenience for road users travelling through the region. — DayakDaily
