KUCHING, Nov 11: The proposal to construct an 11.5 kilometre access road from RPR Landeh towards Jalan Stephen Yong at Kampung Bumbok has been submitted to the state government for consideration under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi revealed that if approved, the project is estimated to cost about RM125 million.

“The scope of works for this project comprises JKR (Public Works Department) R3 standard with premix surface and a small bridge with a length of 200 metre.

“If the proposal is approved, it would take about 30 months to complete,” he informed the august House in responding to a question from Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang today.

Although a huge amount would be incurred, Julaihi however pointed out that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is concerned about the needs of the people.

“Various considerations have been taken into account in planning and proposing the project particularly the villages nearby including Kampung Bumbok, Kampung Bawang, Kampung Paya Mebi and Kampung Landeh with a population around the area of about 15,000,” he added. – DayakDaily
